To actively promote, advance and preserve the arts in Tooele City.
Tooele City Arts Council was established as a non-profit organization in 2007 with a mission to promote, advance and preserve the arts in Tooele City. TCAC works to accomplish this mission through organizing live events, holding community art classes, and offering grants to artistic organizations or events in Tooele City. TCAC works closely with Tooele City and other organizations in the community to provide events and activities that will appeal to all ages. One of TCAC’s most notable events is the annual Fridays on Vine summer concert series, where different bands perform free shows in the park each Friday night during the summer. The historic Ritz Theater was donated to TCAC in December 2023 for its use and preservation. This generous donation has opened new doors for performing arts in Tooele City as TCAC works to renovate the beloved local landmark.
Tooele City Arts Council is funded by Tooele City’s PAR tax. PAR stands for Parks, Arts and Recreation.
Funds from the PAR tax are distributed between Tooele City Arts Council and Tooele City’s Park and Recreation departments. Funds given to Parks and Recreation are used for capital improvements and operations of publicly owned and operated amenities such as parks, playing fields and courts, trails, playgrounds, and pavilions. Funds given to TCAC are used to support staff, events, and operating expenses.
The PAR tax is a 0.10% sales tax on purchases made in Tooele City. For every $10.00 spent in Tooele City, one penny of the sales tax goes towards the PAR fund. On $100.00, 10 cents go towards the PAR fund. PAR is not a property tax.
Tooele City Arts Council relies on the support of volunteers that are passionate about the arts in Tooele City. Eleven volunteer board members meet monthly to discuss and vote on TCAC happenings. They are supported by a staff that manages events, art classes, theater renovations, and other operating duties.
