This super beginner-friendly class is perfect for adults and teens who want to make something colorful and personal. We'll start with a loose abstract watercolor background, then use a simple transfer technique with oil pastel to trace your chosen reference photo onto the paper. From there, you'll fill in sections with acrylic paint—no complicated color mixing required.
What to bring:
A high-contrast black & white printout or photocopy of your reference photo on regular 8.5x11 printer paper (plain background or background removed works best). You can use the provided reference picture or bring your own favorite character, celebrity, pet, or self-portrait. Email us at info@tooelecityartscouncil.com if you need help getting your picture printed.
All other supplies (watercolor paper, paints, oil pastels, brushes, etc.) will be provided.
If you can trace and color inside the lines, you can do this! No prior experience needed—just come ready to have fun and create something unique.
