Dark Cinema Film Festival is a horror-based short film festival celebrating all things dark, haunting, and supernatural. Hosted at the historic Ritz Theater in Tooele, Utah, Dark Cinema is a live theatrical screening event that gives filmmakers the opportunity to experience their work with a captivated audience in an immersive, atmospheric setting.

Our 2025 event welcomed over 250 attendees, filling the historic theater with horror fans and filmmakers for an unforgettable night of storytelling.

In addition to our official film showcase, the event featured filmmaker lectures, a youth category, dark-themed vendors, over $2,500 in cash prizes, food trucks, a live narrator and stage set, filmmaker Q&A sessions, and networking opportunities.

For 2026, Dark Cinema will again feature a special youth category, screening earlier in the day.
